Week 11
This was the second to last week of the trip, and it was the final week of our studio class (the most significant source of our workload for this semester. As such, my partner and I spent a good chunk of our time finalizing our drawings and presentation for the final review. It took place inside of the office of one of the architecture firms that we had visited earlier in the semester, and the panel of reviewers consisted of other local architects, a professor from Meiji University, and a highly distinguished practitioner from Shanghai, an acquaintance of our professor. The review went wonderfully, with the critics greatly appreciating our work and offering valuable challenge to some of our positions. Following the review, we had a dinner and drinks as a class and with the reviewers, which was great fun. The next morning, we got brunch all together, our final time meeting with the class. Two of my friends from Syracuse arrived later that day, and we began the last leg of my trip this semester - 9 days of exploring the city on our own with no class, and with all of our friends together—stay tuned for next week!
