Week 2
This second week of travels has been another window into a world of new experiences, most notably including my visit to Jeju island. The island is just off the southern coast of Korea, a short 1 hour flight from Seoul. Several other friends and I had a 2-day intermission from class, and we decided to fly into the island at night, staying for a full day and coming back the night before our next class. While there, we visited a local beach—boat tubing, beach cocktails, and relaxing all ensued. We also did a short hike, experiencing some of the most beautiful views of the volcanic formations that the island has to offer. Once we returned to Seoul, my week continued with its adventures; during one of my classes, we visited a recently-opened museum space completed by an architect who we spent the day with, listening to lectures and dining together. I also spent many hours exploring Euljiro, the unique neighborhood of Seoul within which our studio project will be located for the semester. Outside of class, too, the meals, nights out, people met, and sights seen have all continued to blow me away.
